Peach Couture

My younger sisters recently opened up an online store that they've dubbed Peach Couture.  The store features cute and trendy clothing, jewelry, and other accessories.  I've been charged with taking product photos for the website and Facebook.

Check out what they have to offer here.

They'll also be featuring the laptop pillow case for those who would rather purchase a ready made one.

In Bathroom cabinets decor DIY easy home project staining tips tutorial

Staining Bathroom Cabinets

I came across Monica's blog on Pinterest from her detailed post on staining oak cabinets.  It seemed easy enough so I thought I'd try it out at my parent's house.  Their cabinets are an old honey oak color and I've always felt they were really outdated.

It was an easy project once I figured out what I was doing.  At first I was worried about overdoing the stain but it turned out I actually wasn't putting on enough!  The first coat was splotchy but the blog post said it would be.  When the second coat was still splotchy, I started to panic.  It warns you not to put on too much stain but I think I was being a bit overcautious.

I would say don't be afraid to apply the stain generously.  I also dug up all the single cotton men's socks I could find in our laundry room (which was a lot), and used those for staining like the blog post suggests.  I also bought some foam brushes to use as back up.  In the end, I actually switched over to the foam brushes because I felt that it was easier to use and left less streak marks.

Cabinets after the 3rd coat of stain

Three coats of stain and two coats of poly later, here is the finished product.  I also replaced the old rusting hardware with new brushed nickle ones.  Overall,  I'm pretty pleased with my work.  It was a very simple project and I feel like it made a huge difference in the bathroom.  I also replaced the old vanity light, re-caulked the sink, and added some new decor.  I'm planning to give the walls a fresh coat of paint soon and I'll post pictures once I get that done.  Feel free to ask any questions :)

In blue breezy bright brown cardigan colors dress gold marshalls ootd summer white

Bright Colors for Summer

Up until recently, I've been a big fan of neutral and gray scale shades.  It wasn't until this last year that I started picking up on brighter colors and now I really love them.  I hit up Marshall's the other day and found this bright green/blue dress and a simple white cardigan which I fell in love with.  I actually had a pair of earrings which were gifted to me by a friend that were the exact same shade.  I matched it up with a small white purse and thick brown belt.

#ootd
My youngest sister gets a kick out of painting my toenails while I take naps so my toenails are constantly changing colors.  This time I woke up with a bright orange that I think worked well with the dress, so a pat on the back for her.

I ended up wearing this outfit to brunch the next day and I am inn love with the color. It makes summer so much more vibrant!

In cute DIY Laptop pillow Sleeve tutorial

Laptop Pillow Sleeve Tutorial

I'm a pretty inconsistent blogger and I usually post when I suddenly get an idea or find some source of random inspiration.  Anyways, I made video tutorial a while ago for a laptop pillow sleeve.  My sister is currently using it as her case and has been getting complements from her friends, so I thought I'd share it on here.

So essentially it's a laptop case which doubles as a pillow (which is awesome for class time naps ).  It also serves as a cute disguise when you're not using it.  The whole thing took me less than an hour to put together and it didn't cost me all that much either. The lace was just an extra touch I thought would finish off the look.

So the video is a few years old and I apologize if the music isn't to your liking.  I've been getting mixed reviews about it but I can see how it kind of covers up my voice.  Oh well! You can get the idea.

In apartment Bathroom decor

3 months in...

and I've only been able to find a little time here and there, between my class and work schedule, to furnish the apartment. My favorite room so far is our bathroom because it's the only room I ended up splurging a little with store bought items.

The bathroom already came with features I loved such as the framed mirror, light fixtures, frosted glass shower doors, and granite counter tops.  There was a large empty space above the toilet and below the wall cabinets so we bought two wall mounted shelves from Target to fill it.  I had seen a picture on Pinterest of a bathroom with similar shelves and I really liked the idea.  Each shelf cost about $10 but I was a pretty disappointed because it couldn't even hold all that much weight.  The two large shelves we bought for the living room, at $20 each, were even worse.  The shelf wasn't even able to withstand the weight of a single oil diffuser before everything came crashing down, spilling scented oil all over our new rug. I checked the reviews for these products on the Target.com and both had low ratings and poor reviews.  Luckily, the boo was able to run to Home Depot and figure out a more reliable way to secure the shelves to the wall.

The towels, bathmat and soap pump were all bought brand new from Target.  I splurged a bit because I love thick towels and fluffy mats! I couldn't pass up the amazing softness from their Fieldcrest collection.  Above the towel rack hangs a Bed Bath and Beyond candle holder I had from the previous apartment.  Lastly, I added some fake flowers from the Dollar store.  The vase, potpourri filler, and 3 flowers cost me a total of $5.  Now, I just need to fill the shelves with some light decor.
